Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz brand posted a 15.3% increase in sales to 93,100 units in April. This is the third German luxury carmaker to state that the demand continued to grow in the last month. In a statement, Joachim Schmidt, head of sales and marketing for Daimler’s passenger car business, revealed that he considers this to be a “great start” for the company to start the second quarter. Schmidt also said that incoming orders have had major increases due to the rise in demand in China and the US as well as the “great success of the E- and S-Class.” Still, Mercedes lags behind its rivals, BMW AG and Audi AG, in global sales through April by about 20,000 units each.
